Tyr welcomes a new partner to its corporate team, Amy Woodfine. Developing on over 17 years of experience in corporate services, Amy will assist the ever-growing team with new client wins and existing clientele.
Amy’s experience is built on a wide range of corporate transactions. These have been domestic transactions as well as cross border, helping and advising companies, directors and shareholders. Amy’s specialist expertise is drawn from working on mergers and acquisitions for a range of businesses, from startups up to those with a turnover in excess of £100m. Amy also works alongside businesses when there is introduction of venture capital and private equity investments.
Amy has acted on numerous deals of which she enjoyed, however her Landmark Deal was the sale of The Data Shed to Hippo Digital in March 2023. ‘I had known the sellers for longer than I care to remember and had provided corporate advice to them over the years. The sale of any business is, obviously, a landmark event for the sellers, and so to be trusted with the work is always something that I never take for granted. But this time it was more personal, so the stakes felt higher. More generally, though, it was a great deal for the Yorkshire market; both target and buyer were Leeds businesses, and most of the advisors were local too. It’s one which people “talked about” (in a good way!) – even a year or two later it crops up in conversations at times!’
Amy is also well recognised on the popular professional networking website, LinkedIn, and with over 2000 connections Amy was ranking in the Top “Legal LinkedInfluencer” in 2025. Sharing engaging posts about life as a corporate lawyer, Amy’s content is thought provoking and often stirs good debate with others in the legal world.
Tyr’s Corporate Team continues to grow in 2025. Including the recent addition of Giles Clegg, the department has grown from 1 to 3 partners in less than a year. The department has further continued growth of fee earning staff within the department. As the department continues to grow, it expects to assist with a wider range of mergers and acquisitions with a new branch of focus on start-ups and tech companies.
When Amy was asked why she wanted to join Tyr, she said ‘I had seen Tyr’s name popping up more and more over the last couple of years, and in a market such as Leeds, which is competitive and saturated, making a mark is tough. But Tyr were managing that. I have always thought they were gaining a reputation which suggested momentum and ambition, which was really exciting. Most of all though, as soon as I met with some of the partners, I thought that it was the kind of place I could see myself working and I’m excited to be joining.
The department expects to see a growth of turnover of 40% this year and aims to continue this trend with the addition of the new partner, Amy.
Chris Blantern, Head of Corporate, said ‘Amy will be warmly welcomed to the team at Tyr. Her addition to the firm adds another great lawyer and further specialities within the department. Amy’s approach to Mergers and Acquisitions, and her in depth experience in tech and digital sectors will add another arm to Tyr’s corporate inventory.’
The corporate team have recently assisted a record number of deals leading up to the November Budget. Assisting a range of Professional Service businesses in buy-out situations has become of core specialism to the practice.
Alistair Kennedy, one of the Founding Partners at Tyr, commented on how exciting this hire is for the Corporate Team. ‘Another great acquisition not only expands our level of knowledge provided to clients, but it also adds a new technicality and speciality to Tyr. Attracting exceptional talent is key to the growth of Tyr and Amy is no exception. Amy is charismatic and personable, also aligning further with our mission to redefine the layer-client relationship.’
