Tyr hosts Tyr de Yorkshire 2026!

Tyr welcomed a group of clients and contacts from across the firm for its annual charity event, the Tyr de Yorkshire. The event brings together cyclists and hikers to enjoy a range of routes across the Yorkshire countryside.

The day started at The Penny Bun, an ex-country pub which re-opened in 2024 as part of the Denton Estate. The restaurant has been making a name for itself for its locally sourced menu. Guests had the choice of a 50km or 60km cycle, or a 12km hike on the day. Coffees and pastries were provided on arrival as a source of fuel for the day ahead!

The cyclists joining Tyr for the 50km route followed the River Wharfe up to the beauty spot of Burnsall before returning back along the other side of the river. The group were the first to arrive back at The Penny Bun in just under 3 hours.

The longer cycling route was set to be a challenge for those who braved it. After cycling with the shorter group to Burnsall, the cyclists continued the famous ascent up through Appletreewick and went on to complete over 1,000m of climbing over their 3:30hr cycle.

Meanwhile, the hikers walked through footpaths and countryside whilst leaving Askwith. Their 12km hike featured a pit stop nearing the top of their climb and a quick photo opportunity at the uppermost point on Askwith Moor, overlooking the River Wharf.

Both groups returned to The Penny Bun for a two-course meal, chatting about the morning’s activities and particularly challenging climbs on the route!

The event was also an opportunity for Tyr to raise funds for its charity partner of the year. With the contributions from this event, the firm has now raised over £3,500 for Alzheimer’s UK from various fundraisers including 13-mile walks, pub quizzes and coffee mornings.
