Leeds based law firm, Tyr, has launched a new office in the thriving city centre of Bristol.
Bristol, one of the largest legal hubs outside of the capital, is also home to many of the most well-known UK and international law firms. As well as professional services, Bristol is a hub of the technological, creative and aviation industries, with many global organisations in the area.
Experienced litigators, Darren Kidd and Martin Cox both join Tyr from prestigious legal backgrounds. Before Tyr, Darren worked previously at Herbert Smith Freehills (now HSF Kramer), Stewarts and Clarke Willmott. Martin worked with Darren at Stewarts and Clarke Wilmot and was previously at Freshfields. Darren and Martin advise on a wide range of domestic and international commercial disputes, with a specialism of banking and financial services matters.
Darren comments, ‘Joining Tyr and launching our Bristol office presents an exciting time for both the firm and the Bristol legal market, and I am very much looking forward to growing Tyr’s premium service in the South West.’
Tyr continues to provide a full-service offering to clients, with services such as commercial property, corporate law, employment and construction all at the firm. Tyr enables its clients to obtain their legal services under one roof.
Alistair Kennedy, Partner at Tyr, said ‘Opening another office demonstrates the firm’s ambitions and reflects its exceptional work over recent years. Darren and Martin joining Tyr is a first step towards us providing a full service to Bristol and the wider market.’
Tyr celebrated the opening of its new office with a cocktail reception event overlooking the harbour at Rick’s, at The Bristol Hotel. The heads of Tyr’s Commercial Property, Corporate and Commercial Litigation teams were all in attendance alongside other partners from across the firm, and together with Martin and Darren. Contacts of the firm were welcomed with Tyr colour-themed cocktails on arrival. Solicitors, barristers, professionals, and local businesses attended the event to be introduced to the brand and network with one another.
Tyr has recently entered its 8th year of business and is well on its way to achieving its 10-year financial goals.
Tyr is a full-service commercial law firm which redefines the lawyer and client relationship.
Tyr is recognised for prioritising clients’ goals and offering support beyond purely legal advice. With a commercially minded and pragmatic approach, the firm builds rapport and relationships with clients. The legal advice provided is always of a high technical standard.
Tyr has an extremely strong client base including PLCs and other major corporates, and advises on high-profile and complex matters.
The firm has achieved its own ambitious growth plans and currently employs over 60 members of staff, including 20 partners. Turnover grew by 20% in 2024/25 and is predicted to grow by a further 20% this financial year.
